The Jonas Brothers Rock Online Ticketing Websites

U.S. Searches on tween-band 6 times higher than Kenny Chesney; Los Angeles top concert market based on online visits

NEW YORK, NY – July 31, 2008 – The Jonas Brothers were the top searched for concert query for the four weeks ending July 26, 2008, according to Hitwise. Other top concert acts that were search for within the Ticketing category included Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Journey and Bruce Springsteen. Despite many popular acts on tour, overall the visits to the Ticketing category are down 12 percent year-over-year.

Searches on the Jonas Brothers were six times greater than the searches for second most popular concert tour, Kenny Chesney and eight times greater than Bruce Springsteen. Among the top 500 search terms to the Ticketing category, 33 percent were for Ticket retailers for the four weeks ending July 26, 2008. Movie theatres and ticket sellers accounted for 27 percent, Concert ticket searches made up 17 percent, Sports ticket queries generated 10 percent and Venue ticket searches made up 6 percent.

“The summer concert season is in full swing and hopefuls are turning to the Internet to find tickets for this season’s hottest act - tween heartthrobs Jonas Brothers”, said Heather Dougherty, research director at Hitwise. “Searches for the trio have been strong throughout the season thanks to their young Internet-savvy audience, even eclipsing influential acts like Journey, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Diamond.”

Ticketmaster.com received 28.19 percent of the U.S. visits to the Ticketing category for the week ending July 26, 2008 making it the most visited website in the category. Fandango.com was the second most visited website receiving 25.91 percent of the visits. Stub Hub, Tickets Now, and Movie Tickets rounded out the top five websites.

The Los Angeles DMA (Designated Market Area) visited the Ticketing category the most for the four weeks ending July 19, 2008. Los Angeles was followed by New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco DMA.
